Matthew McConaughey Thinks It’d Be A Lot Cooler If You Wear A Mask
Matthew McConaughey, beloved longhorn and Austinite, shared a 4th of July message of hope and call to action for America to get its act together. He also reminded us to “wear the damn mask.”
This isn’t the first time McConaughey has used his star power and “animal magnetism,” as Judge Eckhart described, to give a PSA teaching us what we can all do to “slow the spread” and keep Austin safe.
In April he joined Mayor Steve Adler and Judge Sarah Eckhart to share why it is so important to “stay home, work safe.”
Reminding us that keeping physical distance will save 1000’s of lives in our city. Wearing a mask and social distancing are simple acts we can all do to show we care; explained by McConaughey as “taking care of ourselves is taking care of each other” and “today’s containment is going to bring tomorrow’s congregation.”
Masks are here to stay. So, we should all find one (or 20) that we really like and will actually wear. Austin is one of the friendliest cities in the country. Let’s show up for each other and wear the damn mask.
